The truth is that the legal basis underpinning the arrangements for more EP participation in the Eurozone’s structural adjustment programs is rather thin and, hence, the presented democratic improvement is somewhat limited.
Η Ελλάδα δεν έχει ‘Χρυσό Κανόνα’ ή ‘φρένο χρέους’ (‘Golden Rule’, debt ‘break’/’cealing’) στο Σύνταγμα. Συνεπώς, ερωτηματικά εγείρονται σχετικά με το εάν είναι δημοκρατικά αλλά και νομικά συμβατή η εφαρμογή του προληπτικού μηχανισμού στην προκειμένη περίπτωση.
Συνεπώς, η Ελληνική κυβέρνηση δεν δύναται να αντιμετωπίζει ως επιλογή το αίτημα προς το ΔΝΤ, το οποίο είχε ήδη από το 2012 καταστεί νομική υποχρέωση. Παρά ταύτα, στην περίπτωση που το ΔΝΤ απορρίψει το αίτημα της Ελλάδας, τότε το πρόγραμμα του ΕΜΣ δύναται και να υπάρξει μόνο του.
